Appaloosa Dies after eating beetle infested Alfalfa
Posted by: Shawn Date posted: 05/16/2009 01:55:28 PM
West Plains Missouri has some of the best hay/alfalfa I have seen. On April 30th my neighbor bought alfalfa from a farm on CC highway and it was infested with beetles. His horses ate from the bales and within minutes got very sick. He lost his Appaloosa and his quarter horse took 3 weeks to come around and is getting better everyday. Be aware of your grower and/or where you buy your hay from so that you don't end up with sick horses or even worse.
